Extension Cord for Sony HVL-F32X Flash
If you're like me, you were probably very disappointed with the short extension cord that Sony supplies with the F32X flash. Here's how you can build a longer extension cord so you can use the flash off-camera.

The part numbers are:

<li>161-6425: 2.5 mm 4 conductor jack
<li>172-7425: 2.5 mm 4 conductor plug and 6' cord </ul>

Here are the parts necessary to build an extension cord for the Sony HVL-F32X flash. You can get the parts from mouser.com [Disclaimer: I am not an employee or in any way affiliated with mouser.com. I am just a satisfied customer.] The part numbers are:
- 161-6425: 2.5 mm 4 conductor jack
- 172-7425: 2.5 mm 4 conductor plug and 6' cord
Optionally, you can get 172-7426, which is the same as the 172-7425 but with a 90 degree angled plug.
The cord is a 4 conductor cable with 2.5mm plug. The wires are red, yellow, white, and drain.
Step 1
Unscrew apart the 4 conductor jack.
Step 2.
Thread the wire end of the cable through the black part of the jack
Step 3
Solder the wires to the connectors on the jack. Here's how you connect the wires to the jack. (Click on photo to enlarge)
This is what the finished product looks like. It's six feet long. If you have more than one, you can connect them together.
To use your new extension cord:
1. Attach the original Sony extension cord to your flash.
2. Connect your new extension cord to the Sony cord.
3. If you have more than one extension you can connect them together.
4. Plug your new extension cord into the ACC socket on your camera.
Works great.
