DKoyanagi Photo Gallery
My only formal education in photography was a one term photography class I took way back in high school. I learned how to operate a film SLR and how to work in a darkroom. Although I got one photo published in the school yearbook (an 8x10 full page, I might add), my photos from that time were strikingly unremarkable. Unfortunately it was all downhill from there.
After graduation I spent three months in Japan, happily snapping away. After I came home I realized to my horror that I didn't have any film in the camera.
For years after that I was happy just taking snapshots with my cheap plastic camera. Then in 2004 I went on another trip to Japan. I wasn't about to make the same mistake again. This time I was determined to take some actual photos. I decided to buy a cheap digital point & shoot for the trip. But, the more I researched digital cameras, the more features I wanted. I ended up buying a Sony DSC-F828, a terrific little camera but hardly cheap. Now I needed to grow some talent to match my new gear. I practiced, read books, joined forums, and practiced some more. My Japan photos turned out a lot better than I had expected. I was hooked.
After that my downhill slide became a free fall. More gear, more reading, more pictures and more actual training. These days I shoot with a Canon dSLR and a bagful of lenses.
Anyway, thanks for dropping by. Please feel free to sign my guestbook. or send me email.
