I was in Ottawa on Remembrance Day. The ceremony was to start at 11am. I got to the National War Memorial about an hour early get a good spot, but the crowd was already six deep.
I thought I had picked a good spot. It turned out I probably picked the worst possible spot from which to watch the ceremony. I was on the western corner of Elgin and Queens. After more people showed up I couldn't see the cenotaph where the ceremony was happening. And I was standing right next to the Jumbotron so I couldn't see that either. However, I did have a good view of the roof-top snipers. I'm sure they had a good view of me as well.
About 10 minutes to 11:00 the parade started.
The loudest cheers where for the vets.
